The Aurora is a variant of the Stratos design, the
first truly modern ceiling fan. Along with the innovations found in the
Stratos, the Aurora incorporates a strong up-light placed above the blades.
Many ceiling fans incorporate lighting but none can light a room like the
Aurora. Up to 300 watts of light bounce off of the ceiling bringing a soft
ambient illumination to the space unlike the glare associated with more
typical "tulip" style lights found on most fans. This type of light also
prevents the strobing caused by light shining up through the blades.
The Aurora is all die-cast, pressed and extruded aluminum and is offered in
a gloss white finish. The balanced blades are a plywood laminate. The
up-light is designed for four 75 watt incandescent lamps.
The motor is a high power silicon steel design with 16 poles. These motors
are designed for long life and silent running, and are controlled by dual
capacitors. The fan speed and the light can be operated by any one of
four control options described in the controls section. All Modern Fan
Co. products are UL/CUL listed.
The Aurora is available in several standard, as well as custom lengths and
with a 42" or 52" blade span.
